Where is AMD new professional graphics card, the Radeon AI Pro R9700, with Navi 48 XTX and 32 GiByte GDDR6 graphics memory? While the new HEDT and workstation CPU of the Ryzen Threadripper 9000X and Ryzen Threadripper Pro 9000WX series are already available in retail stores, every sign of life is still missing from the Radeon AI Pro R9700, even though system integrators have been advertising it for a long time. Where is the professional accelerator hiding and what does AMD say about the release?
AMD Radeon AI Pro R9700: RDNA 4 with 32 GiByte only for professionals
As the website VideoCardz was able to report at first, several US system integrators such as Velocity Micro and iBUYPOWER have already included their first workstation PCs with the Radeon AI Pro R9700 in the offer, but these are all sold out ("sold out") or not yet available. As can be seen from these offers, AMD professional graphics card is combined with its own processors of the Ryzen and Ryzen Threadripper CPU series as well as with the competing products of the current Core Ultra series from Intel.
While AMD had already stated at Computex 2025 that the start in the DIY business should take place later in the 3rd quarter, which will end on September 30th. However, system integrators should get access to AMD's new professional graphics card earlier in order to equip their systems with it.
AMD Radeon AI Pro R9700 surprises with reasonable prices
In some US shops, the AMD Radeon AI Pro R9700 is also already listed at prices starting at 1,244 US dollars before tax, but the targeted delivery targets are currently indicated as of August and September, depending on the retailer.
Like the Radeon RX 9070 XT, the Radeon AI Pro R9700 is based on the full-featured Navi-48 GPU, the Navi 48 XTX, with 64 compute units, 4,096 FP32 shader units and 128 AI accelerators as well as 64 ray tracing cores. Unlike the gaming graphics card, which has to make do with 16 gibytes, the new professional accelerator has a double memory expansion with 32 gibytes of GDDR6 graphics memory. The TDP is still 300 watts, the AI performance is ~ 1,531 TOPS ("Sparsity") or ~ 765 TOPS in INT4 ("FP16") without sparsity optimizations.
