Linux 6.16 Released - Better Performance, NVIDIA Blackwell Open-Source & Intel APX

Nvidia's open source driver Nouveau continues to make great progress and now supports Hopper and Blackwell GPUs, even if the full range of functions has not yet been implemented. All PCI IDs of the Geforce RTX 5000 have been integrated into the free Nouveau graphics driver for the first time.

Another interesting new feature in Linux 6.16 is the new CPU kernel option "X86_NATIVE_CPU", which allows the user to optimize the kernel specifically for his current CPU and thus improve performance.

In addition, many minor innovations, optimizations and bug fixes were once again included, which noticeably improve the overall performance and add up to a total of 38.4 million lines of code in over 78,000 files.
