RDNA 5 / UDNA: First Solid Information About Navi 5X

RDNA 5 aka UDNA |
The first solid information about the next-gen Radeon based on the RDNA 5 architecture aka UDNA (GFX1) and the Navi 5x graphics processors comes from a reliable source.
AMD RDNA 5 / UDNA GPUs Could Feature Up To 96 Compute Units
According to the report, the larger UDNA graphics processor has a total of 96 compute units ("CUs"), which, in a configuration with 64 FP32 shader units per compute unit, would result in a total of 6,144 FP32 shader units. The highly accurate insider also commented on the memory interface.
- Navi 5X with 96 CUs: 6,144 FP32 shader units + 384-bit memory IF
- Navi 5X with 64 CUs: 4,096 FP32 shader units + 256-bit memory IF
- Navi 5X with 32 CUs: 2,048 FP32 shader units + 128-bit memory IF
This would mean that the execution units would be expanded by 50 percent in direct comparison to RDNA 4 ("GFX12") and would eventually move back to the same level of RDNA 3 ("GFX11"). The full-featured Navi-31 graphics processor ("Navi 31 XTX") also has 96 CUs and 6,144 FP32 ALUs.
In turn, the middle / upper class, which would replace the Radeon RX 9070 XT, should therefore remain at 64 compute units or 4,096 FP32 ALUs and continue to be equipped with a 256-bit wide memory interface. The same would apply to a potential successor to the Radeon RX 9060 XT, which could offer 32 compute units and 2,048 FP32 shader units.
Potential AMD RDNA 5 / UDNA GPU Configurations (via Kepler_L2)
Kepler_L2 also took part in the AnandTech forum to discuss the speculated APU for the Playstation 6, which should offer 80 compute units based on the UDNA architecture. The insider expects a performance between a Geforce RTX 5080 and a Geforce RTX 4090. PCGH had reported about the custom APU ("Magnus").
Although @Kepler_L2 is known for its excellent contact and mostly accurate predictions, it will still be a few months until the release of the next-gen radeon based on the UDNA architecture, so there may still be a lot of changes here as well. This is even more true for the Playstation 6, which is not expected before 2028. All information should therefore be treated with caution.
