Computer gamers with Game Pass Ultimate can now stream their own games to Windows PCs - even console–exclusive titles from the Xbox.

Microsoft is expanding the cloud gaming offer for Game Pass Ultimate users: From now on, members of the Insider program can stream their own Xbox games directly via the cloud on Windows PCs - without local installation.

The new function is available in the Xbox app as part of the so-called PC Gaming Preview and can be found under the menu item Cloud Gaming. The new section Stream your own game will then appear there.

According to Microsoft, over 250 games can be launched on the PC from its own Xbox console library. The prerequisite is that the titles have been purchased digitally or are available as Xbox Play anywhere versions.

A number of console exclusive titles are also supported - these can be played directly on the PC for the first time, even if there is no native Windows version.

Call of Duty Without Hours of Downloading XBOX

The games are streamed from Microsoft servers and start without waiting, which is an advantage especially for very large downloads such as Call of Duty – Black Ops 6 (over 120 GB).

Until now, cloud streaming of own games was only available on Xbox consoles (Series X/S and One), in the web browser, on mobile devices and on smart TVs. Now, for the first time, an official client for Windows computers is being added to the Xbox PC app, which, in addition to Game Pass titles, also opens up its own library.

Keyboard, mouse or Xbox controller are supported. The cloud version of the games is based on the Xbox Series X hardware, similar to the Game Pass streaming itself.

In addition to an active Game Pass Ultimate (around 18 euros / month), participation in the Xbox Insider program is also a prerequisite. The feature is available in all 28 countries where Microsoft officially offers its cloud gaming – including Germany, the USA and many EU countries.

Microsoft plans to expand the list of supported games in the coming months, according to the company's blog. It is not yet known when the function will be released for all users – probably in a few weeks, possibly around Gamescom 2025.
