128 GB DDR5-12800 |
Innodisk presents new MRDIMM memory modules with a capacity of up to 128 GB and a speed of up to 12,800 MT/s. These are intended for AMD upcoming Epyc 9006 ("Venice") series server CPU, among others.
Even if DDR6 RAM is already appearing on the horizon and is to be introduced in the desktop by 2027 at the latest, the current DDR5 standard is far from being fully developed and is getting faster and faster. As ServeTheHome currently reports, the Taiwanese memory manufacturer Innodisk has now presented its latest memory modules with up to 128 GiB and 12,800 MT/s at the FMS ("Future of Memory and Storage") trade fair.
Best memory with 128gb and ddr5 12800
These are memory modules that have been specially designed for servers and are referred to as M (C)RDIMM ("Multi-Capacity Rank Dual In-Line Memory Modules"). These are currently only supported by Intel Xeon 6 ("Granite Rapids") and from next year also by AMD Epyc 9006 ("Venice"). The first dummy memory modules have now been issued and are to be offered from 2026 with a storage capacity of 32, 64 and 128 GB each and initially with a storage speed of 12,800 MT / s.
However, this should still not reach the end of the flagpole for DDR5 memory modules. DDR5-14400+ are also quite conceivable before DDR6 takes over first in the server segment and later also in the desktop PC.
DDR6: Next-gen RAM with up to 21,000 MT/s
DDR5 MCDIMMs are to be designed for up to 16 memory channels and enable a doubling of the memory bandwidth in direct comparison to current solutions in the professional server segment. DDR6, on the other hand, is to be introduced in 2026 and will also arrive on the mass market in 2027 and will later be able to boast speeds of up to 21,000 MT / s.
