Intel is recycling the Core i5-12400 and Core i5-12400F and is now releasing the two 2022 desktop CPUs under new names as the Core 5 120 and Core 5 120F. However, they are still Alder Lake-S processors in 10 nanometers.

New product name, old technology: Intel is recycling the Core i5-12400, which the editors of SHERO KING tested in January 2022, and the Core i5-12400F and is now releasing the two desktop processors from the mid-range under the new product names Core 5 120 and 120F for the old socket 1700.

Intel Core 5 120 and 120F Specs

As a look at the official CPU database from Intel reveals, the specifications of the Intel Core 5 120 and Core 5 120F correspond to those of the Intel Core i5-12400 and Core i5-12400F. Only the maximum boost clock has been increased by 100 MHz from 4.4 to 4.5 GHz, but this is no longer relevant. Even if the database speaks of Raptor Lake-S, these are still processors based on Alder Lake-S and Intel 7 in 10 nanometers.

As before, only 6 performance cores ("Golden Cove") with 2.5 to 4.5 GHz and 18 MiB Intel Smart Cache as well as an Intel UHD Graphics 730 with a total of 192 FP32 shader units are offered for Core 5 120. The standard TDP, the so-called processor base Power ("PBP + PL1") is still 65 watts, while the maximum Turbo Power ("MTP + PL2") drops from 117 to 110 watts.

Intel Core 5 120 and 120F Price

The two CPUs, which are also not a possible refresh recognizable by the H0 stepping, are already listed at high prices in the US trade. While the Core i5-1200 from 105 euros and Core i5-12400F from 104 euros can be found in the price comparison, the "new" processors currently cost well over 200 US dollars.
