GeForce RTX 4090. A severely bent cooler was just one of the many problems, For some gamers, their graphics card is practically sacred – and given the prices they now command, that's understandable. Top-of-the-line models have long since reached four-figure prices, meaning that replacing your graphics card can become a significant financial burden. Apparently, this doesn't always lead to careful handling, as a recent video from repair specialist Northwest Repair demonstrates.

A Geforce RTX 4090 from Gigabyte's Aorus series was sent to him, after it had already been sent to the RMA earlier. And this was apparently far from successful, because the video card had a massive ordeal behind it. This was obvious at first glance, because the entire graphics card had a scratched backplate and was clearly bent. After disassembling, this could be attributed to the radiator, which was also twisted - as if it had sometimes been thrown through the area. This is also evidenced by lateral dents in the slats - repair is impossible.
The situation with the circuit board itself was hardly better. The power connector, which the owner claimed was melted, appeared to be intact. However, it seems that none of the components had ever made contact with the thermal paste applied to the cooler. Furthermore, several components were missing from the Shero King – and Northwest Repair also discovered scratches there. Further analysis quickly revealed the reason why the GeForce RTX 4090 wouldn't power on: there had been a short circuit, and some of the components were receiving excessive voltage.
This could be attributed to a defective driver MOSFET, which was subsequently replaced in the video. The short circuit was fixed by this, but any help came too late for the broken graphics card: the too high voltage had already grilled the GPU. So the repair failed. Unfortunately, the video does not have any details about what happened to the video card before that it was so affected. This makes it unclear which of the problems might have been added by the RMA, or whether the Geforce RTX 4090 was repaired by its owner in such a way.
