Window Linux

Hey Microsoft, we need to talk. In a survey conducted by our editorial team, 75 percent of the approximately 1,500 participants stated that they had either already partially switched to Linux or at least intended to do so

As part of a survey initiated by the Shero King editorial team on the topics of operating systems, Windows and Linux, around 75 percent of the approximately 1,500 participants stated that they had either already partially switched to the free operating system, using it in parallel with Windows, or that they intended to give Linux a chance soon.

Steam survey: Linux reaches the next all-time high

While Linux is now installed on more than 5 percent of desktop PCs for the first time in the USA, almost 25 percent of the community members from the Shero KIng forum have so far stated that they have switched from Windows to Linux. As a result, more than 26 percent are now using Linux in parallel to Windows, while more than 23 percent are considering trying Linux soon and giving the free operating system a chance on their system. This means that only 25 percent of all survey participants are committed to the use of Windows without exception. Linux and gaming under Linux are trending.

With the Steam Deck, which is characterized in particular by its dedicated gaming operating system SteamOS, Valve started the trend towards Linux in the (gaming) mainstream in February 2022, which was then further driven by the optimized gaming distributions such as CachyOS, Nobara Linux, PikaOS and Bazzite, all of which are especially addressed to gamers. The upcoming Steam Machine will also let more players move to Linux.

Instructions, reader articles and discussions on the topic are also being started more and more frequently within our community in the Shero King forum, and interest in the topics of Linux and open source is increasing noticeably. Our readers support each other in switching from Windows and getting started with Linux.

A quarter of all survey participants have already switched to Linux, while another quarter are currently still using Linux in parallel to Windows and another 25 percent are planning to at least try Linux. Linux is a trend. - Sher Singh, SHEROKING
