AMD has officially announced that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 with two X3D chiplets is indeed becoming a reality. At CES 2026, the company confirmed the existence of the monster CPU with two CCDs featuring 3D V-Cache.

AMD has now officially announced what benchmarks had already revealed before: the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 with two CCDs ("Core Complex Dies") with a stamped 3D V-Cache is actually becoming a reality. As part of CES 2026, which will take place in Las Vegas until January 9, the company has now confirmed to media representatives the existence of the "Monster CPU". A first press photo of the Zen-5 CPU could already be found via AMD's media portal.

The confirmation of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 with a total of 192 MiByte L3 cache and the press photo, which could show a Zen-5 processor with two CPU chiplets and double 3D V cache, were published by ComputerBase. As the website writes, the new flagship was confirmed in a small round.

AMD told the journalists "Stay tuned!", but unofficially there was probably already more to learn. Otherwise, the website probably would not have titled for sure: "X3D2 confirmed: The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 with double 3D V-Cache is coming!". Therefore, there should be more information soon, it continues.

As expected, the huge level 3 cache consists of 2 × 32 MiBytes of classic L3 cache and 2 × 64 MiBytes of 3D V cache and thus comes to a total of 192 MiBytes or 96 MiBytes per CCD ("Core Complex Die"), whereby for the first time both compute chiplets have an additional memory "stacked" under the CCD, as the PassMark database had confirmed.

AMD could further expand its leading position with a Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 and bridge the time until the release of the Ryzen X ("Olympic Ridge") with Zen 6 ("Morpheus"), which should probably not be expected before the end of 2026.
