At CES 2026, Samsung Display will showcase a new QD-OLED TV panel that is expected to achieve a peak brightness of up to 4,500 cd/m². This pushes OLED technology further into areas previously reserved for conventional LED LCDs.
At CES 2026, Samsung Display will present a new QD OLED TV panel, which, according to the manufacturer, should achieve a peak brightness of up to 4,500 cd/m2. This would make it one of the brightest self-luminous TV panels to date. The specification refers to short-term peak values under defined measurement conditions. How high the permanently usable brightness is, Samsung Display has so far left open.

The increased luminance is to be made possible by newly developed organic materials. QD-OLED continues to rely on blue OLED emitters, whose light is converted into red and green via quantum dot layers. This principle allows a high color intensity even with increasing brightness. Samsung Display emphasizes that QD-OLED can deliver higher perceived brightness and bolder colors at comparable peak values than competing panel technologies.
The new QD-OLED TV is part of a broader CES presentation with which Samsung Display highlights the role of OLED and QD-OLED in interaction with AI-based image processing functions. Higher peak brightnesses are considered an important prerequisite for displaying HDR content in a more differentiated way and making better use of algorithmic image optimizations. However, Samsung Display has not yet provided any specific information on series devices or market launches. It also remains to be seen which TV manufacturers will use the new panel and in which price ranges corresponding models can be expected.
