Diablo 2 : New class after 25 years and mega update for Steam
Source: Blizzard

Diablo 2: Resurrected gets a new expansion with "Reign of the Warlock" including a new Warlock class. Not only that: With the DLC release comes, among other things, a loot filter and the official verification for the Steam Deck.

Surprise for Diablo 2 fans: On the night of February 12, 2026, Blizzard has released a new expansion called "Reign of the Warlock" for Diablo 2: Resurrected.

With the DLC, which is now available for 24.99 euros, the developers are adding the Warlock to the game - the first new class in 25 years. If you don't have the main game yet, you can grab the "Infernal Edition" for 39.99 euros, which includes Diablo 2: Resurrected and Reign of the Warlock. At the same time, the remaster, which was released in 2021, is available on Steam for the first time and can come up with a verification for the Valve Steam Deck. The Steam version of Diablo 2 Resurrected still requires an active internet connection as well as a <url> account; the corresponding app must also be installed.

The Warlock's Forbidden Arts

According to Blizzard, the Warlock is the class of "forbidden arts", which are expressed in the skill trees "Demon", "Vile" and "Chaos".

  • The Abominable Tree focuses on weapon manipulation and curses that create astral projections, for example, or curse enemies so that they explode or give life.
  • The Demon tree revolves around summoning and controlling demons. This allows players to bind demons in the game world - the warlock benefits from their powers - or devour them to get temporary buffs.
  • The set is rounded off by the Chaos Tree, which offers large-scale, fire-based attacks.

Diablo 2: Reign of the Warlock brings even more into the game

In addition to the new class, Blizzard has also revised the endgame of Diablo 2: Resurrected. Important: The quality-of-Life features are only explicitly activated when you purchase "Reign of the Warlock".

  • The terror zones can now be modified by special items, so that players have the choice of which act should be terrorized. In addition, they will receive a new Uber Boss in the Hell difficulty level in the form of the "Colossal Ancients", which, according to the developers, should of course be one of the biggest challenges for a long time.
  • A lot is also changing with the systems. One of the most frequently requested points in the front way: Diablo 2: Resurrected receives a loot filter! This makes it easy to sort out dropped loot in advance - a feature that, like the Warlock, will also be submitted at a later date in Diablo 4.

In addition, the stash tabs are introduced in Diablo 2: Resurrected, which is intended to ensure a better overview. For this purpose, runes & Co. can also be stacked in the future.

This overview may also be needed for the new chronicle, in which Diablo 2: Resurrected records all the items that were found during the game's progress. If the chronicle is full, there should be cosmetic rewards.

With the arrival of the DLC, Diablo 2: Resurrected effectively splits into two versions - one with and one without "Reign of the Warlock". The World State of Diablo 2 will be frozen with the DLC release, so that players can continue playing Resurrected as usual; however, upcoming updates are reserved for the Warlock version of the game.
