The popular gaming distribution CachyOS has received a new GeForce graphics driver, which promises improved gaming performance thanks to two important new Vulkan extensions. The new Mesa 26.0.2 graphics stack is also included.
The popular gaming distribution CachyOS, which has meanwhile been able to win over many players in the Shero King forum community, has received a new Geforce graphics driver, which promises more gaming performance thanks to two important new Vulkan extensions. The editors had already reported extensively about the Linux x64 Display Driver v595.45.04. The latest graphics driver is currently being maintained by Nvidia as a beta version and is supposed to release idle resources under Vulkan with VK_EXT_descriptor_heap and VK_EXT_present_timing.
While the two Vulkan extensions promise higher frame rates and improved frame pacing, the free Mesa 3D graphics stack in the latest version 26.0.2 is also on board. This will once again address RADV, the open-source Vulkan graphics driver for Radeon graphics cards, and minor bugs.
For now only for AMD's Zen 4 and Zen 5
The developers of cachyos point out to X that the new Geforce v595.x graphics driver is available only through the "znver4" repository for the time being. This repository is intended exclusively for systems with CPUs based on AMD's Zen 4 and Zen 5 microarchitectures. Further architectures are to follow in 2 to 3 days.
