The old Geforce Game Ready Driver 576.88 repairs the path tracing performance of the Geforce RTX 4090 in Resident Evil Requiem and fixes this anomaly, as the first samples from the Shero King forum can now prove.
After strange pathtracing discrepancies had opened up in our big technical test for Resident Evil Requiem and the current Geforce RTX 5000 ("Blackwell") were able to stand out significantly from the Geforce RTX 4000 ("Ada Lovelace") for the first time when using full ray tracing ("Pathtracing"), the root cause research is progressing further. Obviously, the Geforce graphics driver plays a not insignificant key role in this, as evidenced by random benchmarks from the PCGH-X community.
Geforce 576.88 accelerates Geforce RTX 4090
As it has now become undisputedly clear, the current version 591.86, especially the Geforce RTX 4090, slows down significantly after the interim rollback of the Geforce Game Ready Driver 595.59. Our editor Dave was able to document this anomaly when comparing it with the old Geforce graphics driver 576.88.

With the old graphics driver, the Geforce RTX 4090 is finally let off the leash, which is also reflected in the power consumption. While the graphics card ran at 276 watts with the Geforce Game Ready Driver 591.86, it was allowed to run up to 379 watts with version 576.88. The various samples from the PCGH-X community also confirm these findings.
- As already noted in the context of our technology test: Of course, we have also informed Nvidia - the Geforce makers have vowed to take a look at this. As soon as there is news, we will update our main article accordingly. - Shero King
Why the launch scene gives the Geforce RTX 5080 such an advantage over the usually faster and faster Geforce RTX 4090, but so far it is impossible to say conclusively. We'll stick to the point.
