Leaked documents make it clear that Intel also wants to catch up in the gaming sector.

After Intel had rather less success with the Arrow Lake processors of the Core Ultra 200 series, the company is already working on the next generation. The upcoming Nova Lake models are expected to be particularly impressive in terms of gaming performance - a field in which AMD is currently ahead.

A leaked benchmark slide from Intel also claims that the new chips have up to ten percent more single-core performance. The multi-threaded performance should even be up by 60 percent. Presumably, the current generation Arrow Lake was taken here as a comparison. The previously unnamed Core Ultra 9 achieves this plus by having more cores.

The magazine Videocardz speaks of a total of 52 cores for the top model. Of these, 16 performance, 32 efficiency and 4 low-power cores should exist. The power consumption should probably be 150 watts. There should also be some gradations again, such as the Core Ultra 7 and Core Ultra 5 with fewer cores and a TDP of 150 and 125 watts.

Surely Low-Power Cores

The low-power cores seem to be part of a new low-power Island. Such cores should always be activated when it comes to the greatest possible energy efficiency. The existence of low-power cores is contrary to past rumors, according to which such cores should no longer exist.

At the slide, Intel also indicates that it wants to take the lead in the gaming sector again. However, the leaked page does not reveal any further information on how this should be achieved. In recent generations, AMD has been able to gain a noticeable advantage through processors such as the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

It will show how Intel's upcoming Nova Lake chips are doing. So far, the available information is not yet official. This year, another refresh of existing chips will be released. A completely new CPU architecture is to be presented in 2026.
